Bay Beach is the area’s second largest visitor attraction after the Green Bay Packers. It’s also one of the oldest. So guiding its major redevelopment is no small task.
The Green Bay City Council ruled that the park should be allowed to keep its net receipts to invest in infrastructure and future expansion. So, to use this money wisely, the city Parks Department developed a 20-year plan to guide this process.
The plan includes detailed designs, improvements and renovations of all the park land and infrastructure, including buildings, parking, waterfront and rides.
Turning Vision Into Reality
In 2013, a group of local business people realized they could also help this process, and formed the Friends of Bay Beach, a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. Our only goal is to raise funds that will revitalize and expand the Park as quickly as possible.
In other words, we want to turn the park’s 20-year plan into a 10-year plan, so more children and grandchildren, parents and grandparents, and family members and friends can create lasting memories.
We have already raised nearly $3 million, jumpstarting a magnificent revival of the park, focused on family entertainment value, iconic rides and a safe haven for kids of all ages and backgrounds.
